BODY PARTS

In the Bible, the church is described like a body with all of it's different parts-and each one of us is a part of that body. Each part has a function to make the body work properly.

God has uniquely created you, and brought you through experiences, and given you skills and abilities so that he might work through you to accomplish His purposes in the community, neighborhood, workplace, or wherever you happen to be.

If you would like to explore ways that you might get involved here at Smokey Point Community Church, complete the form below.

A COUPLE THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW
If you serve at our Saturday evening services, you and your family are provided a meal between services. It typically is Pizza Nite, but we occasionally change it up a bit too. This way you don't have to plan for dinner and you can serve at one service and attend another.

Opportunities to Serve

WORSHIP TEAM
Do you enjoy music. Are you a musician? If you sing or play an instrument and are interested in serving on one of our weekend worship teams, indicate your area(s) of experience or interest below. Teams typically arrive two hours prior to the first service of the day they are serving on (3:00 PM Sat. & 7:00 AM Sun.).

CHILDREN'S MINISTRY TEAM
This is an area with a wide variety of roles. Teachers. Assistants. Greeting. Decorating. Teachers and teaching assistants may serve on a rotating basis, or long term as a teacher in a specific room for a specific age level.

MOPS
Mothers of Pre-Schoolers is a great place to serve. Moms come from all over the area to listen to a speaker on topics important to parenting and life as a mother, and while they are connecting with other moms, we watch their kids. There are several ways to serve in this outreach ministry to unchurched moms.

MEAL PREPARATION
People need to eat. Our Saturday Servants meal is for those who serve at our Saturday night services--and their families. This team of people coordinates the food for those folks. The Deaconesses provide meals for those in our church body who may be suffering the grief of a lost loved one, or are recovering from surgery or just need help with a meal here or there. The Green Room is where the musicians gather when they are not on stage. They need food too as they typically put in about 6 hours straight on the day they are serving on the worship team--a long time to go without a meal.

Food -- Deaconesses (prepare meals for church family members in times of need)
Food -- Green Room (meals for weekend musicians)

FIRST IMPRESSIONS
Hospitality. That is the heartbeat of this team. Making people feel welcomed to our church. Providing them with the information they want and need. Making their experience here an exceptional one is what this team strives to do, from the parking lot, to their seat and back again. There are some behind the scenes roles too--serve on one of the campus care teams that keeps things spruced up outside and in.

First Impressions -- Coffee (prepare coffee for weekend services)

LIFE GROUPS
Life Groups are the primary path that we use here at Smokey Point Community Church to help people grow in their relationship with Jesus. To do this, a couple of crucial roles are required: Life Group leaders who can facilitate group discussion and Life Group Hosts who can open up their home on a regular basis to host a group. We also need potential leaders who would like to work under an existing leader as an assistant. The idea being that you are interested in one day moving into a leader role but would like a little guidance and practice first. Pastors Steve Richards and Tim Quick will work to equip you and make this a great experience.

COMMUNICATION, MEDIA & INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
We live in what has been called the Information Age.The church lives there too. We have nearly 20 computers on campus that we use at tools for ministry. Occasionally they do what computers do--crash, glitch, freeze, hiccup, etc. (They are PCs.) We also have dreams of effective promotion via video but we need people who speak this digital language well and have an artistic eye. (We do have a Mac on campus for this type of work.) Our web page is constantly evolving and requires some care as well. Did we mention all the graphics and photos we need for promotional materials. If you are adept in graphic design, or consider yourself a photographer, there are places for you to serve too.

BUILDING MAINTENANCE AND PROJECTS
Can you say projects? We continually have items that need attention. Sometimes it's an emergency. Sometimes it's just routine. Also, every week we take the chairs out of our auditorium for other activities and then set them up again for weekend services. A regular crew makes this task go quickly.

STUDENT MINISTRIES
Our Jr. High and Sr. High ministries work to establish Christ-honoring relationships with students. Would you like to be one of these people? Hang out with kids. Have fun. Make friendships. Speak truth and wisdom into lives.
