In this video that someone has put together, you can hear John Piper talk about one of the fundamental differences between the real gospel and the gospel so common to our day that he hates.

This video clip delivers a great message. I've wondered about the prosperity doctrine myself. It makes me wonder if my possessions that I've been "blessed" with aren't blessings at all.
It has always felt weird to me to say I am blessed with money or things. Why would a Just God who cares nothing about such things give them as gifts to me?
It seems, they really are nothing more than stuff I bought for self, with Gods resources.
Perhaps, rather than blessing our selves (myself) with Gods resources, we (I) should allow God to "bless" himself by sacrificially giving to Him for his purpose and not our (my)own.
When asked how much we should give, Christ responded "...sell everything..." (Luke 18:22) That's all of it. No matter how much I give, if it isn't everything, I stand in error with that practice and label myself hypocrite #1.
