Hope Beyond American PoliticsPosted by Bryan in Untagged |

Ok. I admit it. It has been FAR TOO LONG since there has been a post to this blog. It's been a busy summer for us all. But here is a stab at an entry to get this rolling again. If nothing else, it will get some blood flowing for some...
Nearly every weekday, I go to Taco Bell for lunch with the guys. And they have a TV there. I don't have network TV at home, so I was mesmerised by the map showing all the airplanes in the air at one time following a glitch in the FAA computers. Of course, there are all the political things going on. VP picks, and who is ahead in the polls.
It reminded me of being on campus at the University of Montana during the Bush/Gore election. What was noteworthy to me in all of that was how absolutley devistated people were when Gore lost. I mean, I understand bieng disappointed. But this was devestation. Pure depression. I had professors with PhDs who had to stop class and allow us all time to "process the trauma together".
And today I heard a clip in a message by John Piper that I thought put it all in perspective well...

AMEN! What a refreshing perspective during this season of opinions, politics, and idolatry. May we take part in our civic duty of voting, but how much more should we engage with our lost family and neighbors - winning them for Jesus rather than our politics!
