Have you been to Safeway lately? They have this place called "The Gift Card Mall"... our family was on route for a Christmas party and the gift exchange was only gift cards. Having heard the radio commercial about the 250 gift cards at Safeway and needing to pick up appetizers for the party we made the stop. Some of you may know that it can be silly and pointless things that create high levels of excitement for me. But even I was not prepared for the sight of 250 gift cards in one spot. It was like standing in all the malls at once even though I really was in a Marysville grocery store. Before me was a mosaic of options; did I want to get a Home Depot card or a Barnes & Nobles card. The choices were endless; ok, they ended at 250. But it was a sight to behold. Once I determined the cards I was going to get and purchased them, I wondered why everyone doesn’t take advantage of the gift card phenomenon. You give a gift card to the place a particular person wants and they get the joy of walking into the store with the sense of a shopping spree. I know that whenever I get a gift card I feel like the store is mine and a special excitement takes over. All I can say is thank you Safeway. I think the "Gift Card Mall" is the greatest Christmas idea since wrapping paper and scotch tape.
