Wow, I have been feeling really good lately. I am about a month into a very consistent exercise routine... I am averaging 5 work outs a week with some weeks getting six in. I hit the weights Mon, Wed, and Fri. Tue, Thurs, and Sat, I have a group cycling class that kicks my butt. Tim Quick and Austin McFadden love to point out and laugh at the fact that there are only two guys in the cycle class; but I don’t care.
Back in High School I was a very disciplined person in most aspects of life, and then college ruined me. Staying up late and sleeping in for four years messed everything up. After graduating I worked as an electrician and was up every day between 4:30 and 5:00. But then I become not just a pastor, but a youth pastor. My hours reverted back to those lazy, lazy college days. Not because I was lazy but because the hours a youth pastor works are mostly contingent on the life cycles of the elusive JHer. I must admit that things suffered because of it. For four years I struggled with rhythm in life; nothing big, but I was definitely out of sorts. Having my day start around 5:30 again with the routine of hitting the YMCA then back to a quiet house for devos and breakfast I am energized. It may sound ridiculous but things like sticking to a budget, devos, time with the fam, and focus at work all have really clicked. I am tired at night and sleep, not because I should, but because I need to. I am dreaming again for the first time since I can remember. This is something to continue.
