A powerful moment

Posted by nathan in videoponderous

Even now and then God graciously connects with your heart in a way so powerful it brings you to your knees in worship. In those moments my heart responds with a deep cry for closeness to Him. The longing for God is renewed in a fresh way...

I had one of those moments a few days ago, but it starts a few months back. CiY (JH fall retreat) is a JH conference that we attended for the first time this year. Thirty some students of ours went to Portland and joined a few thousand others in times of worship, teaching, small groups, and LOTS of fun. As a musician, music is a way that God has powerfully moved me in the past. I don't know if it was the the song or the fact that I was standing worshipping with my beloved students, but there was this one song that just drew me into God's presence. The trip comes and goes and in the business of life things are forgotten. Until a few days ago. A conversation reminded me that I was going to find the song we sang at CiY. The song is titled "Lead me to the cross". Sitting alone in my office I found the song on Youtube. I listened to it over and over. The words are so true and real. The lyrics are a cry of the heart, my heart. Silly as it sounds, I sat in my office singing, crying, hoping no one would see me. :0) It was one of those moments; joy, desire, and intimacy with my Creator overtook me. All I can say is "good times".

Thanks for sharing that Nathan. I had a similar moment a couple weeks ago as well watching Third Days Love Song on You Tube. I dont know if this link will work or not but they used clips from the Passion. It is really awesome to be reminded of Jesus' sacrifice. The song is written in first person (as if Jesus were singing it).
